When you are joining threaded pipe to use for gas or water lines,you must use something to seal the joint so it doesn’t leak. The best thing to use is Teflon tape on the male threads and pipe-joint compound on the female threads.The 1/2-inch-wide tape is the best choice for most piping,while 3/4-inch tape is better for 3 and 4-inch piping.What’s the right way to put the tape on the pipe threads?
